What is RFID technology

What is RFID technology? Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) is the use of radio waves to read and capture information stored on a tag attached to an object.  A tag can be read from up to several feet away and does not need to be within direct line-of-sight of the reader to be tracked.

Radio frequency identification (RFID) is a technology making use of electromagnetic fields in the radio frequency range to wirelessly capture and read the data stored inside an object’s attached RFID tag for identifying and tracking purposes.

What is RFID technology? RFID is a form of wireless communication that uses radio waves to identify and track objects. RFID takes the barcoding concept and digitizes it forthe modern world providing the ability to:
1. Uniquely identify an individual item beyond just its product type
2. Identify items without direct line-of-sight
3. Identify many items (up to 1,000s) simultaneously
4. Identify items within a vicinity of between a few centimeters to several meters

An RFID system has readers and tags that communicate with each other by radio. RFID tags are sosmall and require so little power that they dont even need a battery to store information and exchange data with readers. This makes it easy and cheap to apply tags to all kinds of things that people would like to identify or track.
