RFID tags have many important advantages over UPC bar-codes. RFID codes are long enough that every RFID tag may have a unique code, while UPC codes are limited to a single code for all instances of a particular product. Also, with RFID tags, a product may be individually tracked as it moves from location to location, finally ending up in the consumer’s hands. And most importantly, RFID does not have to be seen to be read, the readers do it for you.

An inlay is the part of a label that contains the chip that is attached to an antenna. If an adhesive is added it is called a wet inlay. If not, then it is called a dry inlay.
